How to deal with parent-teacher interviews

There are some points that we have to take into account for doing a successful interview between parents and teachers.

- Both teachers and parents have to prepare the appointment before going to the interview. Teacher has to know what and how he or she is going to tell things, and parents have to know what they want to ask and take notes about the things and innovations discussed in the interview.

- At the starting of the interview, teacher has to summarize what topics are going to be covered during the interview, as well as its time and purpose.

- Teacher should have a positive attitude and language toward the student, not underlining the bad things and focussing on the good ones. However, bad things should be also taken into account to better them.

- Confidentiality is essential to this kind of interviews, to make parents feel comfortable to talk about his child development, abilities and weakness.

- At the end, is good to obtain a feedback from parents to evaluate the interview, as well as a self-assessment.
