School Guidance and Counselling Presentation

The first session of this subject we started with some icebreakers. They helped us to introduce ourselves. We tried also to give a definition or to explain what School Guidance and Counselling is. As we were not able to give a complete and absolutely successful answer, we put ourselves in groups in order to make a groupal work. This groupal work was based on a proposal called WebQuest. A WebQuest sounds like something really difficult thing, but it is not. A WebQuest are activities, using Internet resources, which encourage students to use higher order thinking skills to solve a real messy problem.

My group made a Powerpoint Presentation in order to explain the topic, which is School Guidance and Counselling. The aim of this presentation was answering the following questions:

•          What is school guidance counselling?

•         Are guidance and counselling synonyms?

•         Personal definition

•         What are its functions? What are its main areas?

•         Who receives the school guidance and counselling services?

•         What services are provided in the school guidance and counselling programmes?

•         Who provides these services?

•         When are the school guidance counselling services provided?

•         Where are they provided?

For answering them, we find these two videos, which we thought that explained quite well what a School Counselor is and what their functions are.
